Challenges use virtual balances. Trades are simulated and do not execute on real prediction markets.
A prediction market prop firm sells challenges and pays funded traders. Selling is easy to automate. Paying out is where the firm takes on real cost and real risk, and where traders decide whether to trust the brand. This guide covers how to structure both steps.
This is an operational guide, not legal advice. Verification requirements depend on where you operate and how your program is structured, so confirm them with qualified counsel.
When to run KYC
There are three common points to verify identity:
| When | Advantages | Drawbacks |
|---|---|---|
| At signup | Every customer is verified | Adds friction before the first purchase and lowers conversion |
| When an account is funded | Only verifies traders who passed | Some funded traders never request a payout |
| Before the first payout | Verifies exactly the people being paid | The trader waits for verification at payout time |
Many firms verify when an account becomes funded, or at the latest before the first payout, so that verification is done by the time money moves. Whatever you choose, state it in your rules and in the funded-account email so traders are not surprised.
What verification should cover
- A government ID document and a liveness check
- A name match between the verified identity, the customer account and the payout destination
- Country checks against the list of regions your program accepts
- Duplicate detection, so one person cannot run several funded accounts under different names
OLATECH connects to Veriff, Sumsub and KYCAid, and stores the verification status on the trader record in the prediction market CRM, so support and finance see the same status.
What a payout review should check
Each payout request should be checked against the same list:
- Identity. KYC is approved and matches the payout destination.
- Eligibility. The account is funded, has met the minimum trading days or trades, and the payout window is open.
- Rule compliance. No breach occurred, and profit comes from closed or resolved positions.
- Trading pattern. Profit is not concentrated in one long shot or one event beyond your consistency rule, and there are no signs of coordinated trading across accounts.
- Payment details. The method and destination match the customer record.

OLATECH runs event markets, simulated trade entry, challenge rules, CRM, checkout, KYC, affiliates and payout review under your brand.
Book a DemoBuild a review queue, not an inbox
Payout requests handled through email and spreadsheets go wrong in predictable ways: requests are missed, two people review the same one, and nobody can say later why a request was declined. A review queue fixes that. Each request has a status (requested, in review, approved, declined, paid), an owner and a recorded reason.
In OLATECH, payout requests go into a review queue with audit history. Reviewers see the account phase, rule status, trade history and KYC status in one place, and each decision is recorded against the request.
Tell traders what to expect
Most payout complaints come from uncertainty, not from rejections. Publish:
- When verification happens and which documents are needed
- How often payouts can be requested and how long review takes
- Which rules are checked at review, in plain language
- Which payment methods are available for payouts
Then send lifecycle emails at each step: funded, KYC needed, request received, approved, paid. The challenge rules and evaluations page explains how payout eligibility fits into the account phases.

Do I need KYC for a prediction market prop firm?
Most firms verify identity before paying funded traders, to prevent duplicate accounts and confirm who is being paid. Exact requirements depend on your jurisdiction, so check with counsel.
Which KYC providers does OLATECH support?
Veriff, Sumsub and KYCAid.
Does OLATECH send payouts?
OLATECH provides the payout request, review and audit workflow. Your firm approves payouts and pays them through its own payment providers. OLATECH is B2B software, not an exchange, broker or betting operator.
